«Woodstock» asked Lviv musicians
for encore.
This year festival “Woodstock”
took place on the 28-29th of July. There was one particular
thing about it – a “small day” of Ukrainian music. It was unbelievable
for the first time in the history of festival on folk stage a Ukrainian
band was asked to sing encore.
There took part only two bands
from Ukraine: «“Perkalaba” and “AtmAsfera”. “AtmAsfera”
is a unique team in Ukraine. They play at one concert art-rock and various
ethno music with the elements of folk of different world nations. They
are the winners of “Chervona Ruta – 2005” festival and finalists
of “Musical Island-2006” festival.
“AtmAsfera” considers their
performance with ethno program at international festival “Woodstock”
to be the main event of the year.
All the members of the band are
from Lviv and are very interested in music. According to members’
words, music of “AtmAsfera” is born spontaneously, during rehearsals,
although it sounds quite worked on.
Vocalist of band Nastya says that
improvised music is born from their inner state. There are also elements
of ethno and ancient philosophy. And to express complicated mixture
of emotions and feelings, musicians use different styles: from rock
to folk, and also – light, dance, exotic musical instruments and Vedic
hymns.
On the largest in Europe folk-rock
festival in the open air Ukrainian bands managed to win the love and
honor of European public. Also there were some bands from Senegal, USA
and even from disgraced Byelorussia.
As the participants of the festival
say, there was an aura of creativity, musical brotherhood and mutual
understanding.
