AtmAsfera : “It is a feeling that is coming out of one heart to the other one”

The music created by them is a social positive which is missing in our every day life.

A few years ago the whole story started. Sun, sea, rest and completely unofficial atmosphere...thus a few talented people have met. Twin sisters of AtmAsfera band (voice) Nastya and Yulya Yaremchuk told about it all.

-What does “ AtmAsfera ” mean .

Nastya: “AtmAsfera” is made up of two words: “atma” translated from sanscrit means „person” and “sphere”– something that surrounds it. In general it means something that surrounds a person – their internal world, feelings, emotions and experiences. And we named our band like this for a reason; we sing about a person who is not afraid of his/her emotions, feelings.

-Most of your songs are in sanscrit, what are they about?

Nastya: “Sanscrit is the first language on the Earth, all the other languages come from it. When I first heard songs in sanscrit, I had a feeling of joy and harmony. These sanscrit texts are very ancient. Our songs are about real love. It may sound very routine. But we see love as a gift, not as something temporary and passing. "

-Normally your concerts are accompanied by theater performances .

Nastya: “Performances help to understand our music deeper. Sometimes something that is seen can be more important than something that is heard.”

- Who assists “ AtmAsfera ” in musical and theatrical performances .

Nastya: ”Since we have moved to the capital – we cooperate with Kiev theater director Yuras Beztalannyj."

- What is the story of band?

Nastya: “A few years ago Yulya and me went on vacation to Semeiz. They invited us to a concert and we decided to go, because there was nothing to do anyway. Andriy was playing his ( Andrey Shadiy – mandolin, guitar, voice - author. ) songs at this concert. We liked his performance and we decided to meet him after the concert. It turned out that he was also from Lviv, so we got back home and started playing together. Soon other guys joined us, we experimented in different styles. Namely, rock, Russian-speaking rock. And in between rehearsals we played music which is similar to the one we play now. Our friends who were coming at our rehearsals recommended playing this music in public. So thus “AtmAsfera” band was founded and it plays now ethno. "

Yulya joins our conversation.

-You characterize your style as ethno?

Yulya: “They characterized us in such a way, because we play different folklore motives, we use instruments of different people of the world. Our music is also acoustic thanks to flute, violin and darabuka. We don’t put our music in style frames."

-What is darabuka?

Yulya: “Darabuka is an Arabian percussion instrument widespread in Egypt, Turkey. They play classic and folklore music of Southern Africa and Turkey on it.  They play only with fingers on it. Traditionally it is made of clay and painted with paints. Except for clay darabuka, there are also steel and even plastic darabukas. "

-People learnt to hide their emotions. It is different at your concerts, everyone is smiling sincerely. How did you manage to do it?

Yulya: “When you sing, it is difficult not to reveal one! Something that goes from one heart to the other."

-When should we wait for debut disc from “AtmAsfera”?

Yulya: “We have already recorded music, but officially there was no disc. We prepare different documents, particularly, copyright.”
